How to clean your BBQ

Cleaning your BBQ

After using your BBQ, it is very tempting just to shut the lid and go inside but spending a little bit of time cleaning your BBQ will allow you to have amazing BBQ’s in the future. All BBQ’s are easy to clean when you know how, so below are a few tips on how to maintain your BBQ.

Items you will need:

  •          Wire brush- to clean the grill
  •          Steel wool – to brush off excess soot
  •          Soapy water and a sponge – final clean and wipe down

Charcoal BBQ

To clean the grill, allow the briquettes to burn after you have finished cooking which will burn most of the residue off the grill – if there are more stubborn areas, use your wire brush over it to scrape clean. To clean the bowl and lid, use the hot soapy water – NEVER use a wire brush or steel wall as this may damage the enamel.

You should never use oven cleaner to clean your BBQ.
If you have any doubts, always refer to your model’s manual.

Gas BBQ

To clean the grill, turn the burners onto high, burning all the residue off the grill, if there are more stubborn areas, scrape them off with a wire brush. To clean the body and lid, use hot soapy water to wipe down. Cleaning the burners should be done when not using the BBQ for long periods of time, use a gas cleaning kit and refer to the manual for the model you have.

Covers

Purchasing a cover for your BBQ is a great idea as well for keeping it clean when you are not using it. The BBQ's we sell are designed and made to last years uncovered outside all year round, but when you come to using it again, you do not want to clean it before and after use - simply putting the cover over it will keep it clean from leaves, general pollutants and bird mess.
